Overview

Course editors can add course reminders/notifications in each course as a whole, as well as any course step desired. These messages can be used to welcome participants to a program or congratulate them for completing the entire course. They can be leveraged to nudge learners in a supportive manner during the learning process as well.

Adding Notifications To The Entire Course

Course notifications are most often used for overall course introductions, thank you's or other announcements. Here is how to utilize them:

  1. Navigate to the 'Settings' tab in any course.

  2. Click the 'Notifications' option in the settings navigation on the left, or simply navigate the 'Notifications' option in the middle of the screen and click it to open that accordion.

  3. Update settings to desire preferences including:

    1. Time interval - e.g.: 1 Day, 3 Hours (any desired interval).

    2. When the notification should be triggered with the drop down that defaults to 'Participant Starts Course' (e.g.: before the course, after course completion, etc.)

      1. Click 'skip if completed' to skip sending this notification to learners who have already completed the course

    3. Customize the email subject and message

    4. Use template variables (merge tags) to automatically add things like the person's first name

    5. View the default message

    6. Once all settings are updated, click 'Done' to close the edit window

    7. Make sure to click 'Save' in the notifications box to finalize the updates.

Adding Notifications to Steps

Adding notifications to steps follow and almost identical pattern as adding notifications to courses, however they are located within each step's settings area, at the very bottom of a step. Here's how to leverage this powerful tool:

  1. Navigate to the bottom of any step to find the settings.

  2. Go to the 'Notifications' settings and click 'Edit'

    1. Before clicking edit, the default (or prior created) settings will show without having to edit anything.

    2. Click on the message and it will open to just reveal the current message.

  3. Editing the notifications is the exact process at noted above for the 'course notifications' other than the timing triggers are different.

  4. Once edits are completed, click done to close the window and 'Save' to finalize the edits.

*Note: Any notification can be deleted by clicking the 'trash' icon next to that notification. Any deleted notification will no longer operate.
