OVERVIEW

One of the most unique and powerful features is for an admin role to enhance learning experience by integrating a Prompt block within a course step.

  • Each of these prompt blocks can have up to 5 different ways to respond.

  • We recommend using 1-3 response types per prompt block.

  • Dynamic response types include: Text, Video, Audio, Image and File.

For Course Admins

Adding a Prompt Block

Any course administrator or editor can add one or more prompts in a course step with the following configurable options:

  • Prompt Message or Question: Pose a reflection or discussion question to engage learners.

  • Response Types: Select up to three types of responses that learners can choose from.

  • Privacy Settings: Decide whether the learner's responses to the prompt are private (visible only to instructors and editors) or visible to all participants in the course. If a course has participant privacy set to private, it will override this privacy setting, ensuring all responses are private.

    • Note: Privacy settings are also informed by the subscription plan.

      • AI Coached: Setting defaults to admin and Saige AI Coach

      • Unlimited Facilitation: option to share responses with any admin role (as noted above)

      • Cohort Learning: option to also share responses with peers (as noted above)

For Learners

Responding to a Prompt

Learners interact with a prompt block in various ways:

  • Selecting a Response Type: Learners can choose how to respond—via text, video, audio, or document upload. Learners can change their response type later, but if they have already added content (such as recorded a video, or uploaded a document), they are asked to confirm the change, because their prior response will be removed.

  • Multimedia Responses: After responding with a multimedia option, learners can also include text in their response.

  • Autosave Functionality: Responses are automatically saved, allowing learners to return and complete their input without starting over.

  • Submission and Completion: Upon submitting a response, learners view a "completed" indication. If responses are public to the course, the 'Show Responses' button will be highlighted to encourage peer engagement.

  • Interactive Features: Learners can engage their peers by commenting on their responses, viewing others' comments, and using the "awesome" button to add emoji reactions.

  • Visibility of Responses: For cohort learning plans, if the prompt responses are public to the course, learners are shown who else of their teammates or peers has already responded, encouraging them to add their response. If responses are private, or no responses are present, this information won’t be displayed.

Course Community Interaction

If prompt responses are visible to the course they will be shown in the course's activity stream.
